Hi! I'm Kim, I am the founder of FOFC. I am a pluralistic practitioner, which means I believe everyone is completely unique and there are so many different ways to help someone. Apparently I am supposed to write a bit about my philosophy and values, and I could probably fill this whole page with how passionate I am, but I don't want to do that. My approach to my service is how I live my life - being real. I am first and foremost a human being, and have a deep understanding of what life can be like under the weight of mental health.
I have spoken to people who hold this really static image of what therapy is, a person holding a clipboard, scribbling down notes as you pour out your darkest and deepest feelings - that's not what FOFC looks like. The space is whatever you want it to be, and there are no clipboards! (but they are available upon request)
I started my journey to studying psychotherapy by coaching a men's mental health football team, I wanted to have better tools to help the people I coached. This gave me a unique opportunity to adapt what I was learning into real life scenarios. It also made me more adamant to move away from what traditional therapy looks like in a sense. I hope in the future to hold mental health focused football training, walk and talk therapy, and adapt to any which way that suits people who need the support. To me, being pluralistic means more than being flexible with what therapeutic intervention could be used. It means adapting how we work to what you need.
I have a complete belief in the therapeutic process and total faith in absolutely everyone who wants to better their lives, or themselves.
